A deputy constable and a store owner both fired their guns at the two suspects who tried to break in to a northeast Harris County (Houston) store. The suspected burglars are now behind bars. Brutal winter freezes Lake Superior

Off-duty officer uses firearm to thwart robbery

The gunman, 16, drops at his feet as the two others scatter, according to surveillance video that captured the robbery….”

The Peaceful, Silent Majority is Irrelevant

I received this anonymous / unattributed article in my email inbox the other day. I think it makes some excellent points, so I decided to share it on Truth is Reason. I’ve added emphasis to portions of the text that I think are particularly relevant. Following the article are some of my own editorial comments.

 A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.
‘Very few people were true Nazis,’ he said, ‘but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it,  they owned us, and we had lost control, and  the end of the world had come.  My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.’

Woman with shotgun foils home invasion

“Detectives say two male hispanics broke into a home on the 10500 block of Blythe Ave. in Cheviot Hills. The burglars got inside the home through the garage. They were able to steal several items while the homeowners slept through it all. The men hit a second home about 40 yards away on the 2400 block of Patricia Ave. That’s when their luck ran out.  As they tried to gain access to the home, 59-year-old Carla came out with her shotgun…. She fired once toward the ground … just to scare them off. It worked. The two suspects ran back to a white sedan and drove off….”

Man on crutches defends daughter and home from two intruders

“A 44-year-old man on crutches fatally shot one of two intruders who came charging at him Friday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, according to police…. The 44-year-old homeowner was sleeping when his frightened 18-year-old daughter woke him up, then told him that she heard noises and thought someone was breaking into the apartment behind theirs, according to a police report…. At first she thought the noise was a heater in that apartment but after she heard something fall, she locked the door that separates the two residences, the report said. The man … did not see anyone at first, so he returned to his bedroom to get his gun. When he went back to the rear apartment, he saw two intruders charging towards him so he shot at them, according to the report. Both burglars stopped, turned around and ran back towards the back door, but one of them collapsed and fell to the floor. Two men were seen running away and yelling gang slogans….”
