A new low in science: Criminalizing climate change skeptics

Reported By Fox News on 2015-09-28

“Dismayed by what they see as a lack of progress on the implementation of climate policies that they support … 20 scientists sent a letter to the White House calling for their political opponents to be investigated by the government…. The demand by Senator Whitehouse and the 20 climate scientists for legal persecution of people whose research on science and policy they disagree with represents a new low in the politicization of science. The role of these 20 scientists is particularly troubling.  The consequence of this persecution … is to make pariahs of scientists who are doing exactly what we expect of researchers: to critically evaluate evidence and publish that work in the scientific literature…. What these 20 scientists have done with their letter is the worst kind of irresponsible advocacy. Attempts by powerful people to silence other scientists, especially in this brutal fashion, is a recipe for stifling scientific progress and for making poor policies….”

Approximately 66% of global surface temperature data consists of estimated values

Reported By wattsupwiththat.com on 2015-09-24

“Overall, from 1880 to the present, approximately 66% of the temperature data in the adjusted GHCN temperature data consists of estimated values produced by adjustment models, while 34% of the data are raw values retained from direct measurements…. The estimates produced by NOAA for the GHNC data introduce a warming trend of approximately a quarter degree C per century…. Approximately 7% of the raw data is discarded. If this data were included as-is in the final record it would likely introduce a warming component from 1880 to 1950, followed by a cooling component from 1951 to the present….”

“Harvey Lembo was fed up. The last straw was last month when a burglar stole thousand dollars and prescription medicine from his apartment. It happened again late Monday night. Only this time, Lembo woke up. ‘I had the gun under my pillow. I reached out and I cocked it. And I got in my wheelchair.,’ Lembo said. Lembo confronted the intruder in his home rifling through his pills. He held him at gunpoint. ‘This is the fifth time I’ve been robbed. And it’s all been about drugs. I’m tired of it. So I went and bought a gun,’ Lembo said. Lembo got the gun on Monday. He never thought he’d have to use it that night. ‘I screamed at him to stop. And I told him to go sit on the coffee table or I’d blow his brains out. I still had the gun in my hand. And I’m trying to dial 911 with the gun in my hand,’ Lembo said….”
