Car thief dies after engaging in gun fight with former Marine

“A suspected car thief who was in the middle of breaking into a pickup truck was shot and killed by the truck’s owner…. As the man then began breaking into a pickup truck, the truck’s owner came out to walk his dog and confronted the thief, according to investigators. Guns were drawn, and several shots were fired…. “An Indianapolis woman was able to fend off a group of guys who pulled a gun on her while trying to steal her car. Kari Bird just started law school and continues to work full time. Bird got home at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and when she got out of her car, a group of three or four young guys approached her [and demanded her keys at gunpoint]…. With [their] gun still pointed at her, she reached into her center console to pull out her own gun….”

Domino’s pizza delivery man shoots, kills armed robber

 “54-year-old Bryon Park of Palm Bay had just returned to his vehicle after delivering a Domino’s pizza to a room in the motel complex when he was approached by 32-year-old Frederick Kelly brandishing a large knife. Kelly allegedly demanded money from Park and threatened to kill him if he did not comply. Brevard County spokesperson Lieutenant Tod Goodyear said in a release that Park then obtained the firearm he carries in his vehicle and defended himself. Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, Kelly has a lengthy violent criminal history that includes armed robbery, aggravated battery and false imprisonment….”
 

Armed doggy door intruder flees from armed homeowner

 “The Lake County [CA] Sheriff’s Office has reported that an attempted home invasion robbery Sunday resulted in gunshots being fired by a resident of the home…. Occupants of the home reportedly told deputies that they had head what sounded like someone gaining entry into the house through the dog door, Brooks said…. A male resident then armed himself and went to investigate the noise finding a male subject crawling through the dog door into the residence, Brooks reported. The resident of the home was holding what appeared to be a firearm, according to Brooks’ report. At that point the resident questioned the would-be robber, who began lifting the firearm towards the home invasion victim. Brooks said the resident then fired twice. The alleged robber immediately retreated from the dog door and ran from the residence, Brooks said. The resident then noticed a second suspect in the middle of the yard. According to the report the second suspect began raising what the resident thought to be a weapon and the resident responded by firing two more times causing the second suspect to flee on foot….”
