“The US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record. When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been ‘adjusting’ its record by replacing real temperatures with data ‘fabricated’ by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data….”

 With summer just around the corner, for the first time in seven months the Great Lakes are officially free of ice…. Following one of the coldest winter’s on record for the region with temperatures from Jan. 1 to April 1 averaging seven degrees below normal, the Great Lakes hit their second highest ice coverage on record, reaching 92.19 percent on March 6, 2014.

“Antarctica is a land of ice. But dive below the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, and you’ll find fire as well, in the form of subglacial volcanoes.  Last week Secretary of State John Kerry warned graduating students at Boston College of the ‘crippling consequences’ of climate change. ‘Ninety-seven percent of the world’s scientists,’ he added, ‘tell us this is urgent.’ …Yet the assertion that 97% of scientists believe that climate change is a man-made, urgent problem is a fiction. The so-called consensus comes from a handful of surveys and abstract-counting exercises that have been contradicted by more reliable research….”

“The [latest IPCC] report also illustrates just how outmoded the IPCC has become since it was founded in 1988. Its reports are written over a period of three years, and finished months before publication. When preparations started on AR5, the world hadn’t warmed for 13 years. That is a bit odd, if you believe the models, but not odd enough to merit a lot of attention. By the time the report was finished, however, it hadn’t warmed for 17 years. That is decidedly odd, but hard to accommodate in a near-final draft that has been through three rounds of review…. Here are some suggestions: Away with the infrequent, massive set pieces. Away with alarmism – that has been tried for 25 years, with no discernible impact on emissions. Away with activists posing as scientists. Away with the freshman mistakes. Just good, sober, solid science. Let the chips fall where they may….”

“George Will told viewers Tuesday on ‘Special Report with Bret Baier’ that ‘scientists are not saints in white laboratory smocks’ after the White House released a National Climate Assessment report concluding that the effects of global warming are harming the nation…. ‘If you want money from the biggest source of direct research in this country, the federal government, don’t question its orthodoxy.’ Will added that there is no evidence for the increase in extreme weather and cited a former vice president who was also big on climate change: ‘Al Gore, who in 2008, said by 2013, for those of you keeping score at home, that’s last year, the ice cap in The North Pole would be gone. It’s not.'”

Richard Tol, a professor of economics at Sussex University in England, said he disagreed with some findings of the summary to be released later this month in Japan, where scientists from 100 countries are currently meeting to edit and approve the report….”

The reason is that nature has produced periods of warming similar to the recent warming, without any significant contribution from Anthropogenic CO2…. As Professor Phil Jones of the CRU once admitted in an interview with the BBC, the instrumental record contains periods of warming which are statistically indistinguishable from the 1990s warming – periods of warming which cannot have been driven by anthropogenic CO2, because they occurred before humans had made a significant changes to global CO2 levels….”

“Realities about climate models [are that] they don’t and can’t work because data, knowledge of atmospheric, oceanographic, and extraterrestrial mechanisms, and computer capacity are all totally inadequate. Computer climate models are a waste of time and money…. Inadequacies are confirmed by the complete failure of all forecasts, predictions, projections, prognostications, or whatever they call them. It is one thing to waste time and money playing with climate models in a laboratory, where they don’t meet minimum scientific standards, it is another to use their results as the basis for public policies where the economic and social ramifications are devastating. Equally disturbing and unconscionable is the silence of scientists involved in the IPCC who know the vast difference between the scientific limitations and uncertainties and the certainties produced in the Summary for Policymakers (SPM). IPCC scientists knew of the inadequacies from the start….”
