England ends several COVID mandates, restrictions and passports

Restrictions including COVID-19 passes, mask mandates, and work-from-home guidance will be removed in England, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday…..
“As COVID becomes endemic, we will need to replace legal requirements with advice and guidance, urging people with the virus to be careful and considerate of others,” the prime minister said….
But he refused to reconsider the vaccination mandate for frontline health care workers, insisting “the evidence is clear that health care professionals should get vaccinated.”

… Johnson told MPs that the Cabinet decided to remove its so-called “Plan B” measures on Wednesday morning as data suggest the Omicron wave has peaked nationally, and he attributed stabilising hospital admission numbers to “the extraordinary booster campaign” and the public’s compliance to the restriction measures.

Our Commentary:

This is very good news, and a great step in the right direction. However, the refusal to remove vaccination mandates for health care workers is extremely unfortunate, as no vaccination mandate is ever justified. Healthcare workers are smart enough and experienced enough to make their own choices about their own medical care, and the majority of the unvaccinated have doubtless already had COVID, and therefore have superior natural immunity. Never mind the fact that the vaccinated are now more likely to get and transmit COVID than the unvaccinated.

Take your vitamin D

We’ve all heard it before. “Take your vitamins.” Whether coming from mom, spouse or doctor, it’s good advice. Among the various vitamins worthy of our attention, vitamin D is possibly the most important, particularly if you live north of the 37th parallel, and particularly if you want protection from Covid-19.

Abraham Lincoln has long been my favorite president. I love his humble frontier upbringing. His self-taught erudition. His humility and humor. Above all, I love his evolution from apologist to abolitionist.

A big factor influencing that elevation was Lincoln’s relationship with former slave and fervent abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

Inconvenient Facts

The global warming hysteria would be hilarious if it wasn’t being used to ramrod rules and legislation that are robbing us all of resources and liberty, and to transfer wealth and power to unelected bureaucrats and elites.

Libertad and Justice for Cubans

On July 11, 2021, thousands of subjugated Cubans courageously took to the streets to protest the deplorable social and economic conditions imposed upon them by their maleficent masters, the Communist overlords who rule their impoverished nation.

“Libertad” was their rallying cry. And what was the official response of the nation that pledges to stand for “liberty and justice for all?”

The Biden administration despicably spun the protests as simply people upset about Covid and and a lack of access to vaccines.

Keeping Cinderella from Balling

Sixty-eight teams from 32 college basketball conferences were invited to the “Big Dance” (the NCAA College Basketball Tournament) this past March. In spite of Covid-19, it was a typical “March Madness”, with a big part of the madness being the lopsided tallies of teams representing each conference.

Leading all conferences in number of participants was the Big Ten with nine teams in the tourney. The Big 12 and ACC were next with seven, followed by the SEC with six, the Pac-12 with 5 and the Big East with 4. More than half of the tourney teams (38) were from these six conferences. The remaining 26 conferences had a meager 30 teams in the tourney — a measly 1.15 teams per conference.

Let me repeat that fact: Six conferences fielded 38 teams (50% of their 76 teams) in the tourney. The remaining 26 conferences sent 30 teams (11% of their 276 teams) to the Big Dance. Figuratively speaking, there is a wicked stepmother working hard to keep Cinderella from balling.

The Fight for Free Speech

Fundamental to freedom is free speech. Free speech is the first freedom lost as despots seek and solidify power over people.

Williams makes a compelling case for free speech and against the tyrannical trends trying to take away freedom of expression from political opponents. Rest in Peace, Walter Excellence Williams

The “E” stands for “Excellence”, Walter E. (Edward) Williams would sometimes say about his middle initial, and, judging by his accomplishments, he was right.

Born in 1936 to a devoted and determined single mother, Walter overcame adversity to become a leading economist, scholar, political philosopher and defender of truth and reason. He passed away on December 2nd, 2020.

Walter achieved many things in his lifetime. He was a true champion of liberty, particularly of economic freedom, and was an outspoken and unapologetic critic of government policies harmful to minorities, and of false narratives blaming whites for the problems in minority communities.
